Terms and Conditions of Boat Hire
Booking
Unless otherwise agreed in advance, no boat is booked until a booking form has been completed and returned with a none refundable deposit of 25%. Also Hirers must be age 21 or over.
Balance of Hire Fee
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the hirer must pay the balance of the hire fee within one calender month of the start of the holiday. Cancellations at anytime by the hirer will incur the forfeit of the 25% deposit paid. No other costs will be incurred by the hirer.
In the unlikely event that your hireboat is out of commission or unavailable, because of mechanical fault or damage an alternative hireboat will be made available at no extra charge or reduction. The replacement boat will be either Lady Lily 2 or Paladin.
Insurance and Property
Moor Time Narrowboat Holidays cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage to hirer's or passengers, property including baggage, motor cars etc nor do we insure you against any accidents. We are insured against public liability but strongly advise the hirer and passengers to take out their own holiday insurance. If damage is caused to the hire boat intentionally or through a malicious act then the hirer will be held responsible.
Breakdown/Repairs
Moor Time Narrowboats will ensure that your hire boat is in good working order but in the event of a breakdown we must be notified immediately. A 24 hour helpline is available to report both accidents and breakdowns. Every effort will be made to repair you boat but if this is not possible then a replacement boat will be made available or we will reimburse you for each full day of your remaining holiday on a pro-rata basis.
Return of Hire Boat
The hire boat must be returned to the point of departure by either 9.00am or 11.00am as per hire agreement, unless otherwise agreed in advance, in a clean and tidy condition. We must insist upon the prompt return of the hire boat so that other crew and passengers are not delayed. Smoking is not allowed and owners are politely requested to keep pets off the furniture and bedding.
Accidents
The hirer is in complete charge of the boat and at all times is responsible for its safe navigation. In the event of an accident the hirer must notify us immediately with full particulars and names and addresses of any witnesses. Under no circumstances should the hirer or any passenger admit liability to another person. In the unlikely event that your hire boat cannot be repaired then we will offer you an alternative boat or reimburse the hirer for each full day on a pro rata basis. Where damage has been caused through wilful neglect or a malicious act the hirer will be responsible for the cost of repairs or claims for damages by the Navigation Authority.
Navigation and Bylaws
The hirer may only navigate inland waterways and must observe all bylaws and regulations, including temporary restrictions, governing the use of the particular canal being navigated. Copies of the relevant regulations may be obtained on application to British Waterways. No craft may navigate the waterway after sunset or before sunrise. Boats cannot be used on any rivers or ship canals.
General Terms and Conditions
Moor Time Narrowboats Ltd may, at it's own discretion, refuse to handover the hired boat to any persons deemed to be unfit to take charge of the hired boat due to suspected influence of alcohol of drugs.
Under similar circumstances during the hired period, Moor Time may also repossess the hired boat and in both cases the hirer shall main liable to pay the full hire costs and no refund will be made.
